Elizabeth I (1558 – 1603)
– the time of her reign called the Golden age
– many outstanding personalities (Shakespeare, Marlow, Spencer)
– England was the centre of trade roads (because America was discovered)
– outstanding discoverers – Drake, Raleigh
– strong Navy power
– established new colonies
– Parliament became the real Parliament
