New York
New York is the largest city in the USA and an industrial port(printing,publishing,clothing).It lies on the coast at the mouth of the Hudson and East Rivers.Almost 8 million people live there and 10 million in its conurbation. Out of these 43 percent are white, 25 black, and 24 are Hispanic.New York has five boroughs:Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island(Richmond).It is one of the most important financial, commercial and cultural centres in the world.Ex-mayor of New York, Ed Koch called New York City „The Big Apple“ in a speech, and the name remained(Big Apple because city is very big and very busy).The pace is very hectic in New York.Sometimes there is so much traffic that none of cars can move.This is called gridlock.
