Christmas in Great Britain
The signs of the Christmas are the lighted Christmas tree, Christmas food and mistletoe. Mistletoe was for the Druids the holy plant. They believed that it had mysterious power. December 25th is probably the most exciting day for children because they know that they will get presents. Traditionally English children hang a stocking at the end of the bed on Christmas Eve. In the morning they investigate to see whether the stocking had been filled for example with small toys, sweets and fruit. Children play with the toys during the morning. Then they eat a lunch (often turkey). December 26th (called Boxing Day) is day of the relaxation for the people who ate a lot of food during the day ago. Name comes from days when people gave the money for the tradesmen an actual box.
