Canada has population about 26 million people.The name Canada is from Kanata word meaning village or community.Approximately half of population is of British origin and one third is of French origin.Both English and French are official languages.The capital is Otava in Ontario but the largest city is Montreal.Canada is one of the most sparsely populated country with density of 2,3 persons on sq km and three quarter of Canada is urban.The symbol of Canada is maple leaf which is on the national flag.
The canadian economy is among world´s soundest.It belongs to the G-7 countries.Agriculture products:wheat, barley, oats, maize, fodder crops, flaxseed and rapeseed and tobacco.Manufacturing and industry produkts:foodstufs, iron and steel, machinery, petroleum, natural gas, chemicals, coal, forestry products, textiles, fishing, mining-nickel, zinc, platinum, molybdenum.Currency is a Canadian dollar. Canada is a constitutional monarchy and federal state of ten provinces and two territories.The parliament coprises the Queen(head of the state), the Senate and the House of Commons.The principal political parties are the Liberal party, Progressive Conservatives, the New Democratic party and the Social Credit party. Canada was explored in 1497 by John Cabot.In 1800 there was two colonies:Upper Canada(now Ontario) and Lower Canada(now Quebec).Canada became officially Canada 1st July 1867.New Foundland became Canada´s 10th province in 1949.By 1999 Canada will have a new Northern Territory called Nunavut with its capital city Igluit.The name Nunavut means our land.
