1) the class system
British society is stil strongly devided into classes:The aristokracy – there is over 1,000 people with the hereditary ( děděný ) title `Lord` . They have to right to sit in the House of Lord. Today, when people are given a title by the Queen they only keep it for their lifetime. The upper classes – they are usually rich, they are landowners, business, people and professionals. They usually send their children to private school. They speak formal language with particular accent and their connection make sure, that their chlidren get good job. They have no titles. The middle classes – they are mostly profesional people and they often work in offices. They have a university education. They own their own houses in susburb and take holiday abroad. Every member of family has his owm car. The working classes – they work in factories and costruction businesses. There is a high rate ( míra ) of unemployment in this class. People often often live in rented flats and speak with regional accent ( for example cockney – is spoken by the Londoners ). They are paid per hour.
